Sarah Jane Brown was born on March 15, 1885, at Kamarooka, the sixth child and third daughter born to Rosa Corvan and Robert Brown. She was also known by the nickname "Jennie".
Sarah grew up in Kamarooka, and in 1907 married Edward "Ted" Johnson. In ten years of marriage the couple had a family of six children:
i. Ivan Stanley Johnson: born 1907 in Raywood, Victoria, Australia.
ii. Edward Lawrence Johnson: born 1909 in Raywood, Victoria, Australia. He died on 20 Dec 1943 in Raywood, Victoria, Australia.Burial Dec 1943 in Swan Hill Cemetery, Victoria Australia.

vi. Winifred Florence Johnson. She was born 1917 in Koondrook, Victoria, Australia. She died 2000 in Geelong, Victoria, Australia.
Just ten days after Sarah gave birth to her daughter Winifred, she suffered a terrible accident when a lamp she was carrying broke and set her clothing on fire. She received shocking burns, and as a result died several hours after the accident occurred.
Ted Johnson was left a widower with six small children, one of whom was only a tiny baby. I would love to know what happened to Ted and his family...I was told that the girls were raised by Brown relatives and Ted kept the boys with him, but this has to be verified.
Ted Johnson died on 11 Jul 1937 in Swan Hill, Victoria, Australia Cause of Death: Drowned in Weir.He was buried in the Swan Hill Cemetery, Victoria,as was his son Edward Lawrence in 1943.
