Robert Henry Brown was the fourth child and third son born to Robert Brown and Rosa Corvan. He was born in the Huntly district of Victoria on June 12,1878.
Robert worked his life as a miner and labourer, moving to different districts for work. He married Victoria Ellen Hinton(born 1883, Huntly, died 1958, Cobram)and had a large family of nine children:
1. Rhena Mary Brown: born September 15, 1906, Yarrawonga.Married Oswald Gorman Beale, issue Lionel and Nora.
2. Maisie Lavinia Brown: born October 19, 1908, Yarram.Died 1949, Cobram. Married Henry Baden Levings.
3. Neil Robert Brown: born April 13, 1911, Ararat.Died November 20, 1912, Broken Hill, NSW.
4. Elver Robert Corvan Brown: born November 10, 1913, Broken Hill.Married Anne Stephens. Issue Lynton Brown and Cheryl Brown.
5. Verna Constance Penelope Brown: born June 28, 1917, Deniliquin, NSW. Married Norman Manassa. Died 1989. Issue Neil Robert; Bernard George; David Norman and Phillip John.
6. Doreen Ellen Elizabeth Brown: born March 3, 1920, Mathoura, NSW. Died 2001, Bendigo.Married Allan Vincent Townsend. Issue: Corvan; Lorraine; Sandra and Faye.
7. Enid Muriel Brown: born June 24, 1922.Married Reg O'Connor. Issue Deidre, Robert and Erin.
8. Alene Elsie Brown: born February 28, 1925, Orbost, Victoria. Died 1962, Cobram. Married Jack McCluskey. Issue: Mary; Nora; Francis Michael and Allan.
9. Olive Gwen Brown: born November 14, 1927, Bendigo. Died 2001, Warragul.Married Mervyn Desmond Berry. Issue:Michael Francis; Mark Robert; Wayne Mitchell, Susan Ann and Alene Margaret.
The Argus newspaper from Tuesday, May 28, 1935, carried the following short news article:
"While cycling at White Hills on Monday, Robert Henry Brown, aged 56 years, miner, was struck by a motor-car and thrown heavily to the roadway. The car was driven by Mr. William Valentine, of Noble Park, who was on the first stage of a journey to Queensland. Brown was admitted to the Bendigo Base Hospital unconscious and suffering from head injuries and lacerations."
Robert Henry Brown died on May 1, 1948, in the Bendigo Base Hospital. He was 69 years old, and his cause of death was "Coronary embolism and ____ myocardial degeneration."
Robert was buried in the White Hills Cemetery on May 3, 1948.
