6. Anthony James Corvan.



Anthony James Corvan was the first and only child conceived and born in Australia to parents Anthony Corvan and Mary Healy. He was born on January 29, 1856, ten months after his mother and sisters arrived in Melbourne on the ship Mooresfort in March 1855.
Baby Anthony was born in the Victorian Goldfields at New Chum Gully, a settlement near Sandhurst(Bendigo), where his father was a storekeeper.His father registered his son's birth on February 14, and gave the following information:
Father: Anthony Edward Corvan, Storekeeper, 36 years of age, born London, England.
Mother: Mary Healy, aged 30 years, born London, England.
Married: June 4, 1844, Lincolns Inn Fields, London, England.
Issue Living and Deceased: Catherine(one year, dead); Ellen Annette Mary 10 years; Mary 8 years; Rosa 5 years;John 3 months, dead; Anthony James 16 days.

Anthony James Corvan died sixteen days after his birth, on February 14, 1856, the same day that his father also registered his birth. He was noted as being ‘Anthony James Corvan – storekeeper’s son’. He was buried two days later at the Junction Cemetery, the undertaker being William Turnbull.
